Design System Stocktake + UX Redesign

Improving usability across IFAD's internal AI platforms through stocktake and design system implementation.

Context

During my UI/UX internship at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), I worked on improving usability across two internal AI platforms: Harvest and Blossom.

I created standardized guidelines to support consistent implementation across both systems.

Stocktake

I reviewed all of the UI components across Harvest and Blossom, including:

— Typography hierarchy

— Color usage and token consistency

— Spacing and rounding

— Iconography

— Textfields, selectors, buttons, and cards

— Default and hover interaction states

Design System Implementation

Using Figma and Material UI, I helped standardize more than 20 UI components across both platforms to improve consistency and scalability.

The updated system included:

— 6 defined typography styles

— 3 spacing tokens

— 12 reusable UI components

— Refined hover and interaction states

— Cleaner card structures and layout simplification

Redesign Mockups

To demonstrate how the updated design system could be applied, I created homepage and AI module mockups incorporating the new components.
